Prepare 1 tablespoon of black sesame seeds. Black sesame is rich in protein, calcium, vitamin E, iron and unsaturated fats that help nourish root tissue and stimulate new roots to grow quickly. It also contains natural antioxidants that help the cuttings fight bacteria and mold in the early stages of incubation.
Blend the seeds until smooth. Put the black sesame powder in a clean glass jar. Add 0.5 liters of warm water, stir well, cover, and let it stand for 1 hour so the nutrients extract fully.
2. Rooting Rose Cuttings by Selecting and Prepping

Choose a healthy, pest free rose branch of medium length. Cut the branch short, keeping a length of 15 to 20 cm. Remove all leaves and sharp thorns to reduce water evaporation.
3. Rooting Rose Cuttings with Onion Solution

Prepare about 30 grams of onions. Chop the onions and put them in a clean plastic cup. Onions contain sulfur, allicin, and antibacterial compounds that disinfect, stimulate strong root growth, and help prevent rot at the cut.
Add 0.5 liters of clean water to the cup, stir well, and soak the rose branches in the onion solution for 30 minutes. The onion solution helps the branches quickly form callus, creating favorable conditions for roots to grow.
For another simple cup approach focused on roots and blooms, see this guide: cup method for roots and blooms.
4. Rooting Rose Cuttings by Combining the Soaks

After 30 minutes, remove the branches from the onion solution. Carefully filter out the onion residue, keeping the clear water. Filter the black sesame solution that has incubated for 1 hour, then mix the two solutions together.
5. Rooting Rose Cuttings in Coconut Fiber

Prepare a clean plastic cup and carefully processed coconut fiber. Fill the cup almost full with coconut fiber and press it firmly to create stability. Make a small hole in the middle with your finger.
Place the rose branch in that hole, add coconut fiber around it, and press it firmly to secure it. Pour in enough of the black sesame and onion solution to create the right humidity. This combination helps fight bacteria and fungi and protects root tissue from infection.
It also provides deep nutrition from black sesame to nourish strong roots and plump shoots. It stimulates the formation of roots quickly and evenly, which shortens the time to transplant the branches.
6. Rooting Rose Cuttings with a Humidity Dome

Use a plastic bag or a transparent plastic cup to cover the mouth of the cup, creating a mini incubator. This helps maintain stable humidity and temperature. Place the cup in a cool place, away from strong winds and harsh sunlight, especially for the first 3 days after cutting.

7. Rooting Rose Cuttings Results and Aftercare

With this method, after about 10 days you will see new shoots that are plump and green. White roots grow thick and strong, clinging tightly to the coconut fiber.
After the branch has grown stable roots, plant it in a larger pot. Use a well drained substrate such as river sand, or a mix of coconut fiber, burnt rice husk, and loose loam. This natural, safe, and very effective approach makes home propagation simple.
Final Thoughts on Rooting Rose Cuttings
With easy to find ingredients and straightforward steps, you can successfully propagate healthy rose plants at home. Black sesame and onion provide gentle disinfection, steady nutrition, and faster, more even root formation. I wish you success and a brilliant rose garden.
