One pack of 20 dahlia seeds, limit one per customer please!
These seeds were open pollinated in my garden in High Point, North Carolina.
1. Dahlia seed germination rates are known for being quite variable and unfortunately I cannot guarantee a specific germination rate. I will only include seeds that appear viable, and my tests here got 70% germination on average.
2. Dahlias themselves are octoploids, meaning they have 8 chromosomes, so every seed will produce a completely new variety of dahlia flower! While many of the seeds will share some traits with their parent plant, it will almost never be an exact replica. Pictured are a handful of the dahlias in my garden that cross-pollinated. For more information on dahlia seeds and breeding, check out this book by Kristine Albrecht!
If one of these seeds produces a flower you love, you can dig up the tubers it produces at the end of the summer to save and plant again. Dahlias grown from tubers WILL be an exact replica.
Note: These seeds are free, just pay for shipping/handling!
