Baking soda is mildly alkaline and helps clean and disinfect cuts. It prevents bacteria and mold from causing root rot. This solution also balances the pH around the base of the branch, creating ideal conditions for callus and new roots.

Step by Step Coffee Baking Soda Rose Cuttings

1. Brew the coffee solution

Put 1 teaspoon of pure coffee in a clean glass jar. Pour in 0.5 liters of boiling water and stir well. Cover and let cool for about 1 hour.
After the coffee solution has cooled, stir well and filter out the residue. Keep the clear coffee. Coffee provides a source of natural micronutrients that benefit young roots and new shoots.
2. Prepare and sanitize the cutting

Prepare a favorite and healthy rose branch. Cut the flower branch to 15 to 20 cm, then remove all the leaves to reduce water evaporation and limit pests.
3. Mix the baking soda soak

Pour 0.5 liters of clean water into a cup. Add 1 or 2 teaspoon of baking soda and stir until completely dissolved. Soak the rose branches in this solution for about 30 minutes.

4. Combine solutions and set up the jar

Prepare a clean glass jar and a piece of foam. Cut the foam so it fits the mouth of the jar. Mix the coffee solution with the baking soda solution and stir well to get a complete cutting mixture.
Pour the mixed solution into the jar until it is almost full. Make a small hole in the middle of the foam, just the size of the rose branch. Cover the foam over the mouth of the jar.
Use cable ties or soft thread to secure the flower branch in the middle. This avoids tilting during the rooting process. Insert the rose branch into the hole so the base is submerged in the solution about 5 cm deep.
5. Create humidity and place

Use a plastic bag or transparent plastic cup to cover the mouth of the jar. This creates a humid environment like a greenhouse. Place the jar in a cool place with gentle light, avoiding direct sunlight.

Transfer the branch to a pot with coconut fiber substrate. Use soil mixed with rice husks or rice husk ash to keep it loose and well drained. Place the plant in a cool spot, away from strong sunlight for the first few days.
